With the passing of HB 7069, the Florida Legislature reauthorized the Florida's Best and Brightest Scholarship Program. This program seeks to reward Florida teachers who have been evaluated as Highly Effective and who have earned college entrance exam scores indicating they were exceptionally well prepared for college level coursework.

The 2018 Florida’s Best and Brightest Teacher Scholarship program provides three levels of awards and qualifying criteria for each:

1.

All award levels

Currently an active M-DCPS classroom teacher (as of November 1, 2018) or was a classroom teacher in 2017-18

2.

 

$6000.00

(Application deadline of 11/1/18 per state statute)

Submit an official score report indicating a composite score on the SAT or ACT at the 80th percentile nationally for when the test was taken.

AND

Have an SPE rating of Highly Effective for the 2017-18 school year.

OR

Be a first year teacher during the 2018-19 school year.

3.

$1200.00

(No application needed)

Have an SPE rating of Highly Effective for the 2017-18 school year.

4.

 Up to $800.00

(No application needed)

Have an SPE rating of Effective for the 2017-18 school year.

5.

All award levels

After having met the above criteria, must be an active M-DCPS employee at the time of disbursement (March 2019).

All applications must be received by the Office of Human Capital Management by close of business on November 1, 2018.

The application deadline has been extended by FLDOE!  The new deadline is close of business on Monday, December 3, 2018.
